English House & Furniture Vocabulary

Cover: House & Furniture vocabulary with example words: room, door, table, bed
Short answer

Learn the rooms first: kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living room. Add the parts of a home like door, window, wall and floor, and the furniture you use daily such as table, chair, bed and sofa, and you can describe any home and say where things are.

Level: A2. Your home is full of things you can name and talk about every day. This page gives you the rooms, the parts of a house and the furniture you use most, grouped by area, each with a plain meaning and a short example you can copy.

By the end of this page you can…

…name the rooms and furniture in a home, say where things are with simple prepositions, and use ‘furniture’ and ‘there is / there are’ correctly.

How this list was chosen

Every word here comes from the English frequency list (hermitdave/FrequencyWords), which ranks words by how often they appear in a large collection of everyday subtitles. From that list we kept the house and furniture words an A2 learner needs and grouped them by area of the home rather than by rank. The Rank column is the word’s real position in the list — a lower number means the word is more common.
